Enter the UK and Europe

The International Franchising Centre offers a wide range of services to businesses wishing to enter the UK through franchising. The most common requirement is to find a Master Franchisee or Area Developer; sometimes the requirement is to directly sub-franchise in the UK, possibly even to operate owned pilot outlets first to prove the system.

Whatever the need, we can help, ranging from advising on making marketing and legal documentation more UK-friendly to fulfilling the role of interim management of all aspects of the franchisor’s operation, including marketing and recruiting franchisees. Once we have agreed the proposed package and materials we will launch the search programme to known, and new potential investors. The key elements of the selection process are as follows:

• A nominated Consultant will act as an account manager and steer the recruitment process to its conclusion
• With the prior approval of the franchisor (and an agreed budget) we facilitate a media campaign using specialist external consultants
•  We respond to all applications, screen and interview qualified candidates, and support them in their understanding of the franchise and completion of preparatory work
• We create a shortlist of candidates who meet the selection criteria, and facilitate a ‘discovery visit’ to the franchisor’s headquarters
• We work with the franchisor and franchisee to facilitate the successful negotiation of the master franchise agreement

Once your franchise network is set-up here we can provide a continuing monitoring service, reporting back to you on a regular basis, saving you too many visits if you do not want to travel. The good news is there is no franchise-specific legislation here so you will not need a UFOC or any other form of standard pre-contract disclosure document. However, to be successful you will need to adhere to the British Franchise Association’s Code of Ethics and we can help with preparation of your application for BFA membership.
